Tuesday Night Homework!

New semester! Hurray! But before we get too ahead of ourselves, there are some small changes:

1. No more Tuesday Stories. Instead, students will have Tuesday Writing. Tonight, your student will use notes from his/her writing journal to create a short, five-sentence, biographical sketch.

2. We no longer have a CSR in the classroom. Instead, we will be focused on high-interest book groups and a stronger focus on independent reading. Students will be exploring more editing and revision techniques for writing, and connecting that writing to their reading skills.

3. Math is going to be more intense, as evidenced by new Chapter 13. Students need to be very vigilant concerning math homework practice and using the Harcourt website for additional instruction.

Students, to help you this evening, here is the autobiographical sketch I created in class today:
Autobiographical Sketch

(short self-written story about self )

I was born March 12, 1969, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in elementary education in December of 1991, and a year later I was hired to teach at Truman Elementary. In 2004, I flew to Las Vegas and married Nora. Two years later, Adam was born at St. Luke’s Hospital. Currently, I am still teaching fourth grade at Truman Elementary.
