Fractions!

Here it is: FRACTION TIME! This week, we are focused on understanding what fractions mean. We are using fraction strips and circles at our desks, making diagrams in our math journals, and using real-world situations to understand the purpose of fractions.

One of the toughest parts of this unit is comparing fractions. For example, which is greater, 5/6 or 4/9? Students are using cross-multiplication to make this comparison easier. Please use www.harcourtschool.com for more help. (We are on chapter 21).
